The potable water drain valve is, on most large transport aeroplanes

electrically operated, with a manual operation as backup.

When servicing a toilet system, the toilet tanks

can be both rinsed with clean water and pre-charged with chemical/water solution from the exterior servicing panel.

The potable water system is supplied with engine bleed air to pressurise the system. If no bleed air is available (for example if aircraft is on ground with no engines running)

an electric pump is operated to supply the air pressure to the system.

If a toilet tank venturi vent is blocked

foul odours from the tank will enter the lavatory.

It is necessary to pressurize the system because the water taps are located at

a higher level than tank.

Water pipes are protected against freezing by

wrapping them with heater tapes/ribbons.

The potable water tanks are commonly in the pressurized zone of the fuselage installed

bellow the cabin floor.

In design, use of ……….. pipes for toilet waste.
