no person shall exercise the privileges of an aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) unless the person holds an AME license and exercises the privileges in accordance with the ratings endorsed on the license and CARS part V

AME license is valid for the period specified in license. AME license is valid for 10 years “the plastic license is valid for 10 years before renewal”
