    In the 1950's, was known as "Sitio Pastulan" located in Barangay Pinagtongulan. It was named "Duhatan" for abundantly having Duhatan trees in the area. Duhat is a one seeded, oval, dark purple to black colored fruit, with a sweet astringent taste. When missionaries came in 1956, "Sitio Pastulan was officially named "Barangay Duhatan". After the retreat of the missionaries on March 16, 1956 they agreed to celebrate the feast of their Patron saint, St. Joseph.
