Purpose

It is form of dance which mirror the unique cultures that we have. This includes folk and ethnic dances. It is performed to honor a religious patron and showcase our rich traditions. This adheres strictly specified movements to preserve its authenticity

Traditional dance

The evolution of these dances can be seen as one, as it revolved around the intention of improving dance movements as expressionof style, which are distinctive from what is traditional.This form of dance is a platform that expresses one’s view about the society today.

Modern and contemporary

Is performed in order to socialize with others

Ballroom

is classified into two major classifications the Latin American Dances and the Modern standard. Both dances are for recreational and fitness. On the other hand, dancesport competition is a higher version of social dance following rules which are specified under the World DanceSport Federation Competition Rules for a dancesport competition.

Ballroom

This dance is performed to show support or to motivate a competing team to improve their performance during a Page 11 of 18 particular sports competition.

Cheerdance

It is a mixture of two performances which are the cheer routine and the dance routine. The former uses yells and cheers and gymnastics skills movements while the latter uses jazz, hip-hop and classical dances.

Cheerdance

refers to a style that is performed outside the dance studios.

Hip-hop /street dance

It may be a spontaneous dance performance and social in nature. Hip-hop dances are the street dance styles that have developed as part of hip-hop culture. Street and Hip – hop are considered as one form of dance.

Hip-hop /street dance

Are cultural dance performance to honor a religious patron or to give thanks for bountiful harvest.

Festival dance

These may be religious or non-secular but both are organized to provide a festive mood and celebrities unity.

Both locomotor and non-locomotor movements are used in this type of dance.
