Migrating from Quizlet
This guide explains how to import text exported from Quizlet into TestMaker.
1. Export from Quizlet
- Open the study set you want to migrate in Quizlet.
- Select "Export" from the set menu ("…" icon).
- Keep the default delimiters: "Tab" between term and definition, and "New line" between rows.
- Press "Copy text", paste it into a text editor such as Notepad, and save it as a .txt file (encoded in UTF-8).
2. Import into TestMaker
- Open the import screen from the workbook creation menu or the "CSV" tab on the question creation screen.
- Select the saved .txt file and import it.
The file format is detected automatically, so no extra settings are needed.
3. What gets imported
| Quizlet | TestMaker |
|---|---|
| Term (left column) | Question |
| Definition (right column) | Answer |
| Images | Not imported |
4. Notes
- Exported text does not contain images, so images are not imported.
- Changing the delimiters from "Tab" and "New line" may prevent the file from being imported correctly.
- Cards whose definitions contain line breaks are imported as multi-line answers.
- On the free plan, a workbook can hold up to 100 questions. To migrate a larger set, consider upgrading to the premium plan or splitting the set.
- If the import fails, make sure the file is saved in UTF-8.
