Breaking can be defined as the interruption of the line of continuity of a building, either internally or externally, in which there was no such interruption before. It may either be -: Actual breaking and Constructive breaking. Breaking also means breaking in or breaking out.

This is where the perpetrator, with his or her hands created or causes the breaking. This occurs when any means provided for security of the building is disturbed. A door or window may not be actually damaged and the terms simply mean that some part of the structure is disturbed or fastening replaced.

This is when an entry is gained by getting someone in the building (not necessarily an accomplice ) to open up a means of entry. This may be done by Trick, Threat, and Artifice. If the person within is an accomplice, it is no longer a Constructive Breaking, but an Actual Breaking and both parties would be equally guilty.
