Properties of COLOR

• primary color

Lightness and darkness of color

Value

• brightness and dullness of color • refers to as PURITY of the COLOR

Saturation

• produced by adding more pigment to the same hue

Bright color

• produced by adding gray or color complement to the pigment

Dull color

Color schemes

- Monochromatic - Analogous - Complementary - Split complementary - Analogous Complementary - Triadic color scheme - Square color scheme - Tetrad

• use any value variation of a single color

Monochromatic

• lie next to each other on the color wheel

Analogous

• directly across from each other on the color wheel

Complementary

• can choose any two colors on either side of its complement

Split-complementary

• 3 colors are evenly and equally spaced from each other

Triadic Color scheme

• similar to the rectangle • all four color spaced evenly around color wheel

Square color scheme

• Four colors of the color wheel consist of two set of complementary colors

Tetrad

• uses 3 analogous color plus the complement of middle color of the analogous

Analogous Complementary

• lightness and darkness of an area • evident in creating shadow for 2 dimensional object to give illusion of DEPTH (layo)

Value

• the feel of appearance of a surface • smooth or rough • described as actual or implied

texture

• are that is occupied by an object as well as the are surrounding that object or subject • illusion of space can still be created in 2 dimensional perspective

Space

Two types of SPACE

a.) Atmospheric perspective b.) Linear perspective

• utilize the properties of light and air in depecting illusion of distance

• involves the use of vanising points and receding hidden lines

Linear Perspective

• movement in visual arts that can either on illusion or an actual motion
